Wave Hill is a 28-acre estate in the Bronx’s Hudson Hill neighborhood of Riverdale. Wave Hill Public Garden & Cultural Ceneter now includes public horticultural gardens and a cultural center on the hills overlooking the Hudson River, with magnificent views across the river to the New Jersey Palisades. The estate consists of two houses as well as a botanical garden. Wave Hill House, the oldest component of the main house, was built in 1843; Glyndor House, built in 1927, houses a multi-room art gallery. The Perkins Visitor Center, which used to be a garage, now houses a gift store and an information desk. Many important persons lived in Wave Hill in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, either because they owned it, leased it, or were there as guests.
Wave Hill was given to the City of New York in 1960, and it is currently a cultural center as well as a garden. In addition to visual arts events, Armor Hall hosts a paid-ticket concert series on some Sunday afternoons. Wave Hill is a New York City recognized landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visit Bronx Zoo after reading our post. Bluco Mechanical provides services in the Bronx.
