Cunningham Park is a 358-acre (1.4 km2) park in the Queens borough of New York City. The park is divided by the Clearview Expressway, which runs between the Grand Central Parkway to the south and the Long Island Expressway to the north. The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation manages the park.

Major W. Arthur Cunningham was a United States Army’s 165 Infantry member during World War I. Major Cunningham, a Forest Hills resident, ran successfully as a Republican for the New York City Controller position in 1933.  Cunningham discovered that the city was deeply in debt and lacked the funds to repay its debts after being sworn in. Cunningham also discovered that the city had fallen behind in collecting property taxes from landowners.  According to Cunningham, the city must collect delinquent property taxes, and the property tax rate will most likely need to be raised in order for the city to stay afloat.
